The Forecast Between Your Ears: Why Mastery is an Inside Job
We spend our lives looking for happiness in the output. We look for it in the promotion, the bank statement, or the validation of people who don’t even truly know us. But after decades in the trenches of technology - from hardware repair to cybersecurity and AI - I’ve realized we’ve been looking at the wrong part of the stack.
My personal mantra is simple, inspired by a quote Jay Grady loved: “God gave you two ears and one mouth, use them proportionately.”
To achieve mastery, you have to listen to the signal before you broadcast the noise. In that vein, I’ve settled on this truth for happiness:
Happiness is found in exactly one place in the universe. It is located between your ears and behind your eyes. You are the master of your happiness and your destiny. Now, be masterful.
This isn’t just “positive thinking.” It’s an architectural reality. My background is in systems. I’m a technologist and an AI evangelist. If you ask me what the most useful invention in human history is, I won’t say the wheel or the steam engine. I’m leaning towards the microprocessor.
Why? Because technology, at its best, serves human agency. AI is just the latest evolution of that technology. Like the Space Race, these “moon shots” generate a massive dividend of jobs, tools, and possibilities that benefit everyone.
For the last several years, I have been building in silence. I have been working privately on a suite of sites and apps designed to support this vision of human-first technology.
The “silent build” phase is officially over. This year, the content here will expand drastically as I pull back the curtain on these projects.
If your day started off rough, remember: you own the hardware, and you control the forecast. You are the one in control of how you perceive this moment. Turn it around.
Be masterful.
