How Public Engagement Becomes Real Network Adjacency

Most people treat LinkedIn like a scoreboard.

I do not.

To me, the feed is a relationship layer. A good comment can do more than add a number to a post. It can tell someone you were paying attention, that you understood the point, and that you are worth remembering.

That is why I pay attention to the small moments. A comment on a leadership post. A reply to a thoughtful thread. A connection request that actually mentions the thing you engaged with. Those are not random. They are signals.

If the exchange is good, it can turn into real network adjacency. That just means the distance between people gets smaller. Less noise. More trust. Better chances of future collaboration, advice, or mutual support.

The key is not to perform for the feed. The key is to be clear, useful, and human. People can feel the difference.
